COMPUTER OPERATIONS SPECIALIST I

Salary, Exempt

LSI ADL Technology, Inc. is currently seeking a Computer Operations Specialist to provide technical support to users in a timely fashion in order to support business needs.

The Computer Operations Specialist operates computer and peripheral equipment to process data by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, install, configure, test, maintain, repair, and address complex problems of user PC's and peripherals as well as network and Server related issues.
  • Observe computing and network equipment for error messages displayed to detect faulty conditions, machine stoppages, or other systems problems.
  • Respond to user inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and user (procedural) problems.
  • Perform troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose hardware and software problems.
  • Record problems encountered along with pertinent information (e.g. down times) and actions taken to remedy.
  • Instruct users in the use of equipment, software, networks network services, and manuals.
  • Coordinate activities with other technical specialists within the MIS department.
  • Provide updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem tracking systems, and/or users/ via voicemail, e-mail, or in-person communication.
  • Support and maintain user account information including rights, security and systems groups.
  • Ensure users abide by LSI MIS policies; Advise management of observed or potential breaches of policy.
  • Share the responsibility with other MIS Department members to cover the MIS Help Desk (telephone and e-mail).
  • Willingness to continually learn about new technologies and provide input and suggestions.
  • Document processes and procedures to ensure compliance with standard business practices.
  • Work on assigned projects
  • Other duties may be assigned by the MIS Manager or Chief Information Officer.

Required computer skills:

  • Solid understanding of MS Windows Server 2003 Active Directory
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Knowledgeable of TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP

Desirable, but not required, computer skills:

  • Microsoft SMS
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • VMWare

Bachelor Degree (B. A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university; or an Associate Degree with at least 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

This position has no supervisory responsibilities
